Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford University For International Students, UK

The annual Rhodes Scholarships is now receiving applications from international students who wish to pursue a postgraduate degree at Oxford University. Students who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.

The Rhodes Scholarship is a fully funded, full time, postgraduate award which enables talented young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. Applying for the Scholarship is a challenge, but it is an experience which has helped generations of young people to succeed. We encourage applications from talented students everywhere.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

To be considered for this scholarship:

  • You must be aged 18-24 on 1st October 2024 (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 1999 and before 2 October 2006).
  • OR for medical, dental, pharmaceutical, law and engineering students, to allow you to complete your professional internship
  • You must be aged 18-25 on 1st October 2024 (i.e. you must have been born after 1 October 1998 and before 2 October 2006)
  • OR for older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual
  • You must be under the age of 27 on 1st October 2024 (i.e. have been born after 1 October 1997) AND you must also have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2023
  • You must have completed an undergraduate degree (normally a Bachelor’s degree) by the application deadline with an academic background and grade that is a First Class Honors Degree or equivalent which meets or exceeds the specific entry requirements of your chosen full-time course at the University of Oxford; in the case of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy courses, the highest classification your University awards, e.g. a Distinction would be considered equivalent to a First Class Honors Degree.
  • In order to take up a place on one of our courses, you must be able to demonstrate English language proficiency at the University’s standard or higher level. You do not need to provide evidence of English language proficiency if you meet one of the following criteria:
  • Your first language is English and you have always been a citizen of and primarily resident in a majority English-speaking country recognised by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI); or
  • You are a current Oxford student applying for readmission.

Benefits of the Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship covers Oxford University course fees, as well as providing an annual stipend. For the 2023/24 academic year, the stipend is £19,092 per annum (£1,591 per month) from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Please note – this is not sufficient to cover partners or dependents.
